2008 - 09 Contest Season Information

The winner of this season's Open Men's division will win a trip to El Salvador with professional coach Sean Mattison, (an $1800 value)! All other season winners will receive new surfboards!
We aim for excellence in the series in order to provide you with a unique opportunity to bring a friend to a Christian event that is fun and well run. It is our hope and prayer that those that don't know Christ will find true Christian community and ultimately experiences the eternal Love of Christ through relationships developed at these contests.
.08/.09 Changes:
Below are changes we are making to try to streamline the check in process and provide divisions that more people will use:
1. We are adding three divisions: A Fish division, a $witchfoot division and a Parent / Child division.
a. The Fish division is an open division where the contestant must compete on a Fish which must be a minimum of 15” wide when measured 12” up from the end of the swallowtail. No Thrusters allowed (You can take the trailer fin out).
b. In the $witchfoot division a competitor’s score is figured by adding up the best wave ridden regular foot to the best wave ridden goofy foot. Winner of each heat will be awarded $20 out of the pot and the winner of the final will be awarded the remainder of the pot figured by multiplying the number of contestants in the division by $20.
c. The Parent / Child division is just that; Parent/child teams will compete and the team score will be determined by counting the parent’s best two waves and the child’s best two waves. The child must be 18 or younger and a handicap will be awarded to each team as follows: one point for every year the child is under 18 at the time of the contest.
2. We have cancelled the Master’s Longboard, Women’s Longboard and the Jr. Women’s Shortboard divisions due to low turnout. The age for your division is determined by your age as of December 31, 2008. A division must have at least three competitors to be held. Finalists will be awarded trophies down to sixth place. The series will consist of seven regular contests and a double point rated championship. We will count the top six contest results to determine the season rankings.
All contests will be $40 for the first division and $20 for a second division (except for the Championship, which will be $60 and $30 for a second division; the Championships is open to all and is double point rated). The bulk rate only covers one division; second divisions are still $20 ($30 at the Championships). T-shirts will go to the first 350 people to surf in the series.
